If a hare crosses the path of a woman enceinte, she must instantly stoop down and tear her shift or dress lest her child have a hare or 'ar-shotten' lip.

On the last night of the month we said 'Hares,' and 'Rabbits' in the morning, and wished if we had not spoken between.

This pewter hare brooch celebrates the 'vulgar knowledge' of hares from the Museum exhibit, Tell the Bees: Belief, Knowledge and Hypersymbolic Cognition.

The brooch is available as either a running hare or a hare head. Both styles have a clutch pin back and measure approx. 1.5-inches in length. Packaged in a commemorative gift box.

A Note About Our Commemorative Products: This item is produced by and for the Museum only, and is made under its direct and careful supervision.
