A child weaned at the time that birds migrate from the country will be restless and changeable in after life...

Kinetic artists Mark Rosen and Wendy Marvel have widely exhibited their series of original motorized flip books, which are based on the 19th century motion studies of Eadweard Muybridge. In 2013, they created a DIY hand-cranked animation movie machine that displays animated art in flip book style.

The Fliposcope is easily assembled and contains everything you need to create a hand-cranked animation of a dove in flight, created by the Fliposcope team especially for the Museum, and based on a display in the Tell the Bees exhibit.

Blank DIY cards for making your own custom animations are available separately. You come up with the design, then illustrate it by hand or create your own 24-frame animation by uploading your own video or images to Fliposcope's free online flip-maker tool and print them on the label sheets provided.

Each Fliposcope includes:

  • FlipBooKit box (comes assembled)
  • Dove in Flight Flip Cards
  • Hardware and spindle kit for assembly
  • Instruction Sheet (in English - video instructions are available on the Fliposcope website)

Available separately:

  • Blank DIY Cards
