This candle design takes its inspiration from Colonial-era “courting candles,” candles held in spiral holders that allowed watchful parents to dictate how much time a suitor would spend with an eligible daughter based on how high or low the candle was placed in the special holder - thereby setting the candle’s burn time, much like a timer. This modern interpretation employs a spiral beeswax candle that burns approximately 20 minutes per inch and extinguishes itself when the flame reaches the clip holder.
