Far Horizons is a musical collaboration between Mehdi Bagheri and Arash Moradi, launched in 2020. The project brings together the expressive voices of Kamancheh and Tanbour through a combination of spontaneous improvisation and original compositions. Rooted in Persian and Kurdish musical traditions while embracing contemporary expression, Far Horizonsexplores the dialogue between two distinctive instruments and the creative possibilities of live performance.

Mehdi Bagheri is an internationally recognized Iranian Kamancheh virtuoso, composer, and multi-instrumentalist from Kermanshah, Iran. Trained by masters including Kayhan Kalhor and Ardeshir Kamkar, he combines the depth of Persian classical music with contemporary, cinematic, and cross-cultural influences. He has performed at renowned venues and festivals worldwide, including the Royal Festival Hall in London, Théâtre de la Ville in Paris, the Getty Center and Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, and the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. His work spans concert performance, recording, film, and video-game soundtracks, including Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Based in Southern California, Mehdi continues to compose, perform, and teach, connecting Iranian musical heritage with new artistic expressions.

Arash Moradi is a renowned Kurdish composer and Tanbour player from Kermanshah, Iran, and the eldest son of legendary Tanbour master Aliakbar Moradi. He began studying tanbour with his father at an early age and has performed internationally at major festivals and venues, including Queen Elizabeth Halland St. John’s Smith Square in London. He has collaborated with BBC Radio 4 and musicians worldwide, promoting Persian and Kurdish musical traditions. Based in London, Arash teaches tanbour, leads workshops, and continues to perform and collaborate internationally.
