Belka and Strelka Porcelain Decanter

Commemorating the successful August 19, 1960 space flight of the Soviet Space Dogs, Belka and Strelka, is this hand-painted porcelain decanter from Russia. 'Gzhel' ceramics are named for the region near Moscow where artisans have been producing this distinctive style of pottery, traditionally with a blue and white glaze, since the early 19th century.

The body of the rocket holds water, vodka, or the liqueur of your choice, and the top of the ship comes off and serves as a drinking vessel. Due to the hand made nature of this item, each one is unique and the dogs all have slightly different, but always exuberant, expressions. Please note that you will receive a similar but different decanter from the one shown.

Each decanter is just under 9-inches high with lid.
