The Society for the Diffusion of Useful Information is very pleased to announce an evening of Medieval and Renaissance pieces for lute and voice by John Dowland, Guillaume de Machaut and Jacob Senleches, performed by Argenta Walther, Stuart Wheeler, and Alejandro Acosta.

Argenta Walther is a singer of music from the sacred medieval to the modern experimental. She is a founder of the contemporary vocal group Accordant Commons, and is one of the directing members of Ensemble Vocatrix, a group dedicated to the music of Hildegard von Bingen. In her free time, Argenta likes to explore somatic movement and stand-up comedy.

Stuart Wheeler is a singer, composer and poet living in Los Angeles. He was an early member of Utah’s Deseret Experimental Opera collective and a co-curator of the Avant GaRawge concert series. He is one of only a handful of singers to have completed a full solo performance of John Cage’s Empty Words. He holds an MA in experimental music composition and performance from Wesleyan University. 

Alejandro Acosta is guitarist and lutenist who specializes in the performance of Renaissance and Baroque instruments of the lute family. As a lutenist Alejandro had participated with several early music ensembles in Mexico and in Germany. Nowadays Alejandro is pursuing his Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the USC Thornton School of Music, where he is member of the Baroque Sinfonia.


Masking will be required.
