Mehdi Bagheri and Kourosh Moradi

Mehdi Bagheri is internationally recognized as one of the most renowned practitioners of the Iranian Kamancheh of his generation. A native of Kermanshah in western Iran, he is also an accomplished composer and multi-instrumentalist, known for blending Persian classical music with contemporary, cinematic, and cross-cultural styles.

Mehdi began his musical journey with learning Setar and Tombak before dedicating himself fully to Kamancheh. He trained under legendary masters, including Kayhan Kalhor and Ardeshir Kamkar, and has developed a unique style that merges deep knowledge of traditional Persian music with modern sensibilities.

Kourosh Moradi was born in Kermanshah, Iran. He is the second son of the great master of Tanbour, Aliakbar Moradi. He studied Tanbour with his father, learned Daf with master Sufis of the Yarsan Order, and studied Tombak with Hamid Moghadam while growing up in Kurdistan. Kourosh has recorded and performed around the world, continuing the family legacy of the Tanbour with many esteemed masters of Kurdish and Iranian music. He continues to perform with his father and carry on the family legacy of sharing this music with audiences around the world. He now lives and teaches in Southern California.
