The performers:
John Bilezikjian is an Oud virtuoso whose repertoire includes folksong
in 11 languages. He has given a command performance for King Juan Carlos
I & Queen Sofia of Spain, & performed as a soloist with the Los
Angeles Philharmonic. He accompanied Leonard Cohen on his "LIVE" world
tour.
Accordionist Barry Fisher heads "Ellis Island," Los
Angeles’s oldest klezmer band, & is known for his multi-ethnic folk
music collaborations with Romani (so-called Gypsy), Mexican, &
Eastern European performers.
John and Barry’s friendship dates
back to the early 1960s, & they have performed together in
circumstances as varied as providing incidental music for
vegetable-picking and playing for a two day wedding in a 13th-century
Umbrian villa.
