At the heart of the Museum Kircherianum can be found the lodestone. This naturally magnetic stone serves to remind us, as Athanasius Kircher once said, "the world is bound with secret knots".
This small magnetic stone is held up by a handcrafted brass "claw", extending from a teak wood base. A small bag of metal filings is included so that one may "feed" the magnetic stone. No two are alike.
